Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML), Delhi

Established in the memory of Jawaharlal Nehru (1889-1964), the first Prime Minister of India at Teen Murti House, his official residence, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Culture, has four major constituents---a Memorial Museum, a Library on modern India, a Centre for Contemporary Studies and a Planetarium.

National Museum, New Delhi

India's premier museum, opened in December, 1960, under the Ministry of Culture, has about 200,000 works of art of diverse nature, both Indian and foreign, covering a span of more than 5000 years of India's cultural heritage, has a conservation laboratory, offers various courses through the National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology, set up in 1983.

National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Delhi

Established in 1954, run by the Ministry of Culture, acquires and preserves works of modern art from 1850s onward, develops galleries for permanent display, organises special exhibitions, has branches at Mumbai and Bangalore.

Forum Art Gallery, Chennai

Founded by artists Shalini and Biswajit to promote and exhibit art, spread over three levels covering almost 4000 sq ft, gives equal emphasis to paintings and sculpture, conducts exhibitions, seminars and symposia on art.

Gallery Art & Soul, Mumbai

Art gallery, hosts solo and group exhibitions by contemporary artists.

Gallery Espace, Delhi

Established in 1989, showcases the art of primarily Indian artists from multiple generations in diverse media.

Salar Jung Museum

Repository of the artistic achievements of diverse European, Asian and Far Eastern countries. The major portion of this collection was acquired by Mir Yousuf Ali Khan popularly known as Salar Jung III, but quite a few items were inherited by him from his father Nawab Mir Laiq Ali Khan Salar Jung II and his grand father Nawab Mir Turab Ali Khan, Sir Salar Jung I.
