Magnitude 5.5 earthquake shakes East Kameng region of Arunachal Pradesh

An earthquake of moderate intensity, measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale, shook the East Kameng region of Arunachal Pradesh early this morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The quake, which had its epicentre at latitude 27.7°N and longitude 92.7°E, occurred at 0424 hours at a focal depth of 10 km, an IMD bulletin said.
Today's quake came a day after three tremors had shaken the state yesterday afternoon within the space of a little over half an hour. Two of them, measuring 5.6 and 3.8 on the Richter scale, occurred in East Kameng district, while the third,  measuring 4.9, occurred in the district of Kurung Kumey.
