Krishna Raj Kapoor, wife of iconic actor Raj Kapoor, passes away

Krishna Raj Kapoor, the wife of the late iconic filmmaker and actor Raj Kapoor, died here this morning after a brief illness.
 
She was 87.
 
She is survived by her three sons -- Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor, all actors -- and two daughters -- Ritu Nanda and Rima Kapoor-Jain.
 
She was also grandmother to young and popular actors Ranbir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
 
"My mother passed away at about 5 am today due to cardiac arrest...old age was another factor. We are deeply saddened by her demise," Randhir Kapoor said.
 
Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, daughter of Rishi and Neetu Kapoor, shared pictures of her grandmother on Instagram. "I love you- I will always love you - RIP dadi," she wrote.
 
Krishna Malhotra got married to Raj Kapoor in May, 1946. Her father was a maternal cousin of Raj Kapoor's father, Prithviraj Kapoor, a well-known actor. Krishna's brothers Prem Nath, Rajendra Nath and Narendra Nath were also actors. Her sister Uma is married to actor Prem Chopra.
