Dinesh Gundu Rao appointed as president of Karnataka Congress

Congress President Rahul Gandhi today appointed Mr. Dinesh Gundu Rao as the new president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.
Mr. Gandhi also appointed Mr. Easwar Khandre as Working President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, a position held earlier by Mr. Gundu Rao.
Mr. Gundu Rao, 48, succceeds Mr. G. Parameshwara, who has become Deputy Chief Minister in the coalition government headed Janata Dal (Secular) leader H D Kumaraswamy.
"The Congress party appreciates the work done by G. Parameshwara, who successfully led the party for last 8 years and is stepping down from his responsibility as Karnataka PCC President," a press release issued by  All India Congress Committee General Secretary Ashok Gehlot said.
Mr. Gundu Rao is the second of the three sons of former Karnataka Chief Minister R. Gundu Rao. He has a B. E. degree in electronics engineering. He is a four-time member of the State Legislative Assembly.
He served as Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in the previous Siddaramaiah government.
