India's wholesale inflation rate eases slightly to 2.47% in March, 2018

India's headline annual rate of inflation, based on the revised monthly wholesale price index (WPI), with base 2011-12=100, eased slightly to 2.47 percent in March, 2018 as compared to 2.48% in the previous month and 5.11 percent in the same month of the previous year.
An official statement, quoting provisional data, said here today that the official WPI for All Commodities for March, 2018 rose by 0.2% to 116 from 115.8 for the previous month.
According to it, build-up inflation rate in the financial year so far was 2.47% compared to a build-up rate of 5.11% in the corresponding period of the previous year. 
The statement said the rate of inflation based on WPI Food Index consisting of Food Articles from Primary Articles group and Food Product from Manufactured Products group decreased from 0.07% in February, 2018 to (-) 0.07% in March, 2018.
The statement said the final WPI for All Commodities (Base: 2011-12=100) for January, 2018 stood at 116.0 as compared to 115.8 provisionally reported on February 14, 2018.
Accordingly, the annual rate of inflation based on final index stood at 3.02%, as reported provisionally on that date, it added.
