Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said he was being treated for kidney-related problems and certain infections he had contracted.
"I am therefore currently working from controlled environment at home. The future course of my treatment would be determined by the doctors treating me," Mr. Jaitley said in a post on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Mr. Jaitley, 65, is learnt to have cancelled a visit to London next week for the annual India-UK economic dialogue.
The Minister, who underwent a gastric bypass weight loss surgery in 2015, reportedly visited AIIMS on Thursday for a checkup where doctors advised him to take rest before treatment for his kidney ailment begins.
Mr. Jaitley is yet to take oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha after winning a fresh term in the Upper House from Uttar Pradesh recently. He has been unwell for some time now and was seen delivering his Budget speeches in the Lok Sabha while remaining seated on more than one occasion since he assumed office in May, 2014.
