BCCI announces new contract system and compensation structure for players

The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today announced a new contract system and compensation structure for players, including the introduction of a new A+ category which features skipper Virat Kohli and four other players.
The other four players in Grade A+, which will give them annual contracts worth Rs. 7 crore each for the period from October, 2017 to September 2018, are batsmen Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Diwan and pace bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.
Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, off-spinner R. Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Murali vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Wridhhiman Saha will be eligible for a contract of Rs. 5 crore in Grade A.
"The CoA was of the view that the performance and position of Indian Cricket needs to be recognised with the fee structure comparable to the best in the world," a press release from BCCI said.
Players in Grade B will get Rs. 3 crore and those in Grade C will get Rs. 1 crore, it said.
For women, the CoA has introduced a new Grade C. Grade A players will get contracts worth Rs. 50 lakh, those in Grade B will get Rs. 30 lakh and those in Grade C will get Rs. 10 lakh.
As far as domestic cricket is concerned, there will be an increase in match fee and an upfront payment model for domestic cricketers. The domestic match fee structure will see more than 200 percent hike in each category, the release said.
For men, the domestic match fees per day for those in the playing XI will be Rs. 35,000 for seniors, Rs. 17,500 for U23, Rs. 10,500 for U19, and Rs. 3,500 for 16 players. Reserves will get half the amount.
