Engine derails in railway yard at Shamli

An engine that was meant to haul the Shamli-Delhi passenger train derailed in the yard at the Shamli railway station, about 120 km from here, in the early hours of today, delaying the departure of the train by a few hours.
No one was injured in the incident and it did not affect traffic on the route, Northern Railway sources said.
The derailment occurred at around 2 am as the engine was moving in the yard to get attached the train. A replacement engine was arranged and the train left for Delhi after a delay, the sources said.
The cause of the derailment would be established after an inquiry, they added.
