Four coaches of train gutted in fire at Mokama yard in Bihar

Fire guts four empty coaches of train, no casualties
Four coaches of an empty rake of the Patna-Mokama passenger train stationed at the Mokama Railway Yard, about 90 km from here, were gutted in a fire in the early hours of today, official sources said.
East Central Railway (ECR) spokesperson Rajesh Kumar told NetIndian over the telephone the train had reached Mokama around 2230 hours yesterday and was later moved to the yard for routine maintenance and cleaning operations.
Around 0115 hours today, a fire was noticed in two of the coaches and railway staff from the Mokama station rushed to the spot and began using fire extinguishers to put out the flames.
Fire brigade personnel also reached the spot after a while and the fire was doused by 3.30 am, he said.
Mr. Rajesh Kumar said there were no casualties in the incident. The cause of the fire could not be immediately ascertained. A three-member inquiry committee has been set up to investigate the incident, he said, adding that there was no disruption to traffic on the Patna-Howrah route.
