Former Indian football captain Gurdev Singh Gill felicitated

Gurdev Singh Gill, former captain of the Indian football team, was felicitated here today for his outstanding contribution to the sport.
Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports Rajyavardhan Rathore presented him a shawl, a memento and a cheque for Rs five lakh on the occasion.
The felicitation ceremony was organised as Gill was away in Canada when Prime Minister Narendra Modi felicitated the captains of Indian football teams that played in the Asian Games.
Felicitation of Indian captains by the Prime Minister was organised during the FIFA U-17 World Cup on October 6.
Speaking after the felicitation ceremony, Gurdev Singh said he was happy with the promotion of football in the country as FIFA U 17 World Cup had attracted a lot of attention throughout the country especially among youth and school students.
A winner of Arjuna Award, 67-year-old Gurdev Singh captained the Indian football team at 1978 Bangkok Asian Games.
