Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has appointed Ms. Snehlata Shrivastava, a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1982 batch (Madhya Pradesh cadre), as the Secretary-General of Lok Sabha and Lok Sabha Secretariat in the rank and status of Cabinet Secretary with effect from December 1.
Ms. Shrivastava will be the first woman Secretary-General of Lok Sabha and Lok Sabha Secretariat, a press release from the Lok Sabha Secretariat said.
Ms. Shrivastava has 35 years of varied administrative experience, having served in positions such as Secretary, Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice and as Special/Additional Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance.
She has also served in senior positions in the Government of Madhya Pradesh, including as Principal Secretary, Culture and Parliamentary Affairs; Principal Secretary, School Education Department; Relief Commissioner, Revenue Department; and Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department & Technical Education & Training.
