Two IAF commandos, two terrorists killed in gunfight in Bandipora, Kashmir

Two Indian Air Force (IAF) Garud commandos, who were training with the Army, and two terrorists were killed in an encounter at Hajin village in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir today, official sources said.
The two IAF Garuds were part of a joint security team that was carrying out a combined cordon and search operation in the area, the sources said.
A press release from the Ministry of Defence said that security forces had received an intelligence report yesterday night saying that five or six terrorists were hiding in a house in Hajin.
"The joint team laid a cordon around the house today at 0400 h. Terrorists ran out of the house lobbing grenades and firing indiscriminately towards the cordon party. Two terrorists firing indiscriminately ran towards the position of Garuds, who challenged them and killed two terrorists.
"In the intense operation, two IAF Garuds {Sergeant Khairnar Milind Kishor and Corporal Nilesh Kumar Nayan} sustained serious multiple bullet injuries and were evacuated to Base Hospital, Srinagar where they succumbed to the injuries and were martyred," the release added.
According to the sources, the Air Force commandos were placed with the Army for operational experience and training.
