2 dead, 17 injured as parapet of house collapses in Telangana
Two persons -- a woman and a minor girl -- died and about 17 others suffered injuries when the parapet on the terrace of a house, crowded with people watching Dussehra celebrations on the street below, collapsed suddenly at Alur village in Nizamabad district of Telangana, about 175 km from here, on Friday, official sources said.

Nizamabad Assistant Commissioner of Police (Armoor) K. Shiva Kumar told NetIndian over the telephone that the incident occurred around 6.30 pm when, as usual, people had gathered on the streets and on the top of houses to see the annual festivities.

He said a portion of the parapet of one house collapsed suddenly, killing the two, identified as Yashoda (23) and Harika (7).

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital and further investigations are on, he added.
