Indian Navy Band to perform in Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2017 in UK

The Indian Navy Band has been invited to participate and perform in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2017 in the United Kingdom from August 1 to 26.
 
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an international event of military music performance undertaken by the Armed Forces. It is the largest tattoo performed in the world in the majestic, sprawling stretch of Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, Scotland. 
 
An official press release said the invitation to the Indian Navy Band to participate in the event is a matter of pride and a befitting recognition of its professional prowess.
 
It said the participation of the band in the event woudl further cement the ties between the two countries, more so, when the two countries have declared 2017 as the India-UK Year of Culture to celebrate cultural ties and the 70th year of Indian independence. 
 
"The Indian Navy Band has been practising hard in the last few months to further hone their skills to capture the hearts and minds of the music enthusiasts in this international event. The band comprising one officer and 65 musician sailors would perform under the leadership of Commander Vijay Charles D’Cruz, Director of Music (Navy) who would be the Principal Conductor during the event. The Indian Navy band is scheduled to depart for London from Mumbai on July 30," the release said.
 
More than 50 bands are expected to participate in the tattoo and about 2.5 lakh people are expected to attend the event over the 26-day period.
 
Apart from India, bands from countries like Australia, France, Germany and will also be performing at the tattoo this year, the release added.
