Venu Rajamony appointed as Ambassador to The Netherlands

Mr. Venu Rajamony, currently the Press Secretary to the President of India, has been appointed as the country's next Ambassador to The Netherlands.
 
Mr. Rajamony, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 1986 batch, was expected to take up his new assignment shortly, a press release from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
 
The Ministry also announced the appointment of Ms. Pooja Kapur (IFS: 1996), presently Joint Secretary in the MEA here, as the Ambassador to Bulgaria.
 
Mr. Rajamony has been Press Secretary to the Presidence since August 2012.
 
Prior to joining the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Mr. Rajamony served as Joint Secretary and head of Multilateral Institutions Division of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance from 2010-2012.  
 
Earlier, he served as Consul General of India in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 2007 to 2010. He has also served in the Indian missions in Hong Kong, Beijing, Geneva and Washington, DC.
 
He had begun his career as a journalist, working for Indian Express from 1983-86. 
 
He holds degrees in Law from the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala; a Masters in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and a Certificate in Chinese language from University of Hong Kong.
