IIMs announce results of Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016

The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) today announced the results of their Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016 conducted on December 4, 2016.
Candidates can see the results here after entering their usernames and passwords.
A press release from IIM Bangalore, which conducted the test this year, said 20 candidates had scored overall 100 percentile in the examination -- all male and engineers.
Prof. Rajendra K Bandi, Convener, CAT 2016, said: “However, in the sectionals, many non-engineers and female candidates have scored 100 percentile.”
As many as 2,32,434 registrations were made for CAT 2016, a seven-year-high, as compared to 2,18,664 registrations in 2015.
The test was conducted in two sessions on December 4 in 138 cities across the country, and as many as 1.95 lakh candidates took the test.
Online registration for the examination commenced on August 8, 2016 and ended on September 27.
This morning, candidates were informed individually by text messages about the results and their overall percentile even as the results were posted on the CAT website (
“The untiring support of the CAT Committee, comprising admissions chairpersons of IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode and IIM Lucknow, and the tremendous hard work by the CAT 2016 Secretariat at IIM Bangalore played a big role in enabling us to declare the results on schedule,” Prof. Bandi said.
On a related note, he added that IIM Bangalore will announce its shortlist for personal interviews on its website (  later today.
The CAT is a pre-requisite for admission to the flagship post-graduate programmes (PGP) in management of the IIMs. Several other institutions also use the CAT scorecard to decide their admissions.
The test is conducted for admission to IIMs Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Bodh Gaya, Calcutta, Indore, Jammu, Kashipur, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Nagpur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Sambalpur, Shillong, Sirmaur, Tiruchirappalli, Udaipur and Visakhapatnam.
