14 dead in road mishap in Gujarat
As many as 14 men died and three others suffered injuries when a mini-truck they were travelling in collided head-on with a truck on the Bagodara-Kheda highway near here late last night.
Police sources said the mishap occurred around 11.30 pm near Valtera village in Dholka taluka of Ahmedabad district.
The injured were taken to the Government Hospital at Dholka for treatment and were later referred to the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad.
According to them, the victims belonged to three families from Sokhda village near Rajot. They were returning hom from a pilgrimage to Pavagadh in Panchmahals district.
The truck was laden with ceramic tiles was on its way from Wankaner in Morbi district to Andhra Pradesh. The driver of the truck fled from the scene after the accident, police said, adding that a case of negligent and rash driving had been registered against him.
