The office was inaugurated on Monday and now the port is in a position to give clearance to all foreign going vessels, an official press release said.

The Port Health Officer and supporting staff have been provided by the PHO, Cochin which was established to ensure prevention of entry of Quarantinable diseases (Diseases subjected to International Health Regulations) into the country under Indian Port Health Rules 1955.
PHO is designated for issue of ‘Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate, Ship Sanitation Control Certificate and Ship Sanitation Extension Certificate to Ships’.
