Universal Syrian Orthodox Church head Ignatius Aphrem II meets Modi

Patriarch of Syriac Orthodox Church arrives in Delhi
Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, the Supreme Head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church, called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi here today.
He was accompanied by a nine-member delegation, comprising senior members of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church.
The Damascus, Syria-based Ignatius Aphrem II is currently on an Apostolic visit to India. 
During his visit to Delhi, the 49-year-old patriarch of the Damascus-headquartered church is also slated to call on President Pranab Mukherjee and meet United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
Earlier, he had spent ten days in Kerala. This is his first trip to India after being enthroned nearly nine months ago.
