India’s consumer inflation rate inches up to 7.96% in July 2014

India’s consumer inflation rate, based on the all India General Consumer Price Index (CPI) (Combined), inched up to 7.96 per cent in July 2014 as compared to 7.46 per cent for the previous month.
An official statement, quoting provisional data, said the corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban areas for July 2014 were 8.45 per cent and 7.42 per cent. 
The consumer inflation rates for rural and urban areas for June 2014 were 7.87 per cent and 6.82 per cent, respectively.
The General Indices for rural, urban and combined were 1451, 141.9 and 1437, respectively, for July this year.
The Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) for July 2014 for rural, urban and combined were !49.4, 150.1 and 149.6, respectively.
The provisional inflation rates based on CFPI for July 2014 for rural, urban and combined were 9.85%, 8.45% and 9.36%, respectively, the statement added.
