National-level javelin thrower, 60-year-old man killed in Delhi road mishap

Two people, including a national-level javelin thrower, were killed and two others, including a national-level hammer throw player, were injured when the autorickshaw they were travelling was crushed between two vehicles on Vande Mataram Road in the Mandir Marg Police Station area here this afternoon.
Police said the mishap occurred around 2.15 pm when there was a traffic jam on the road caused by a rush of vehicles picking up children from schools located in the area.
The autorickshaw, driven by Jasvinder, aged 60, was hired by javelin thrower Abhishekh, 20, and Brijesh, also 20 and a hammer throw player, both of whom study in the Government College at Bhiwani in haryana.
The autorickshaw was on its way to Karol Bagh, behind a Haryana Roadways bus, which slowed down suddenly because of the traffic jam. A pick-up van hit the three-wheeler from behind, sending it crashing into the bus ahead.
The driver and Abhishek were killed in the mishap, while Brijesh and a motorcyclist, identified as Hemant, suffered injuries in the incident, police added.
