Two minor quakes jolt India's North-East region

Two minor earthquakes shook the East Gangtok region in Sikkim and the  Karbi Anglong area of Assam late this afternoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The first quake, measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale, had its epicentre at latitude  27.3°N and longitude 88.7°E in Sikkim and occurred at 1630 hours at a focal depth of 6 km, an IMD bulletin said.
The second tremor, measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale, had its epicentre at  latitude 26.5°N and longitude 93.1°E in Assam and occurred at 1642 hours at a depth of 10 km, it added.
