Ministries of Tourism, Railways to jointly develop amenities at Amritsar, Thiruvananthapuram, Agra

The Ministry of Tourism has undertaken joint development of tourist amenities at Amritsar, Thiruvananthapuram, Rai Bareili, Gaya and Agra Cantonent railway stations in association with the Ministry of Railways.
An official press release said Central Government assistance of Rs 10.28 crores, Rs 5.98 crore, Rs 5.18 crore and Rs 5.05 crore had been provided by the Ministry of Tourism for the developent of Amritsar, Rai Bareili, Thiruvananthapuram, Gaya and Agra Cantonment stations, respectively.
This financial support is being provided as part of an initiative of Dr. K.Chiranjeevi, Minister of Tourism to provide assistance to Central agencies for tourism infrastructure development, it said.
As part of the joint initiative, the Ministry of Railways shall make land for the project available free of cost and render all possible assistance for completion of the project on time. 
The Ministry of Railways shall set up a monitoring committee with a member from the Ministry of Tourism to monitor physical and financial progress of these projects, it added.
