Former Power Grid Corp. official sent to prison for 7 years in bribery case

The Special Judge, CBI cases, Ghaziabad yesterday convicted Sushil Kumar Gupta, the then Additional General Manager, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh in a bribery case and sentenced him to undergo seven years of rigorous imprisonment with a total fine of Rs. 2 lakh.

A press release from the Central Bureau of Investigation said Gupta had been caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from a contractor on January 29, 2010 to facilitate him in the smooth running of his vehicles, which were hired by the public sector company.
 
A charge-sheet was filed in this case on June 26, 2010 in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Ghaziabad. The trial court found the accused guilty of the offence and convicted him.
