Five accused sentenced to 10 years' RI in Killiroor sex scandal case in Kerala

Five accused persons were today sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for five years by the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Thiruvananthapuram in the sensational Killiroor sex scandal case, involving the gang rape of a minor girl, which had rocked Kerala in 2004.
The five were also asked to pay fines ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 each. The total fine amount of Rs 1 lakh will be given to the parents of the victim for the welfare of her minor child.
A press release from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) here today identified the five as Praveen; Manoj; Latha Nair; Binu @ Kochumon and Prasanth.
The release said the CBI had taken over the investigation of the case on the request of the Kerala Government and registered a case on January 27, 2005 against accused Omanakutty, Praveen; Manoj and Latha Nair.
