Planning Commission clears Storm Water Drainage Scheme for Sikkim Airport

The Planning Commission has given investment clearance for a scheme for improvement of Storm Water Drainage below the Greenfield Airport at Pakyong, Sikkim. 

The scheme is estimated to cost Rs. 48.55 crore as per 2010 price levels, an official press release said.
The proposal includes training four natural drains for dissipation of their energy and also checking outflanking and spilling, besides erosion of bed and bank. An area of 171.43 hectares will benefit from the scheme, the release added.
