NCP puts off meet after Maharashtra unit chief's son dies in mishap

The Nationalist Congress party (NCP) has postponed its two-day meeting of party ministers, leaders and office bearers, scheduled from today, following the accidental death of the son of state party president Madhukar Pichad in Ahmednagar.
According to party sources, Pichad's 30-year-old son Jeetendra was electrocuted after he came in contact with a live wire in his home town Akola in Ahmednagar district yesterday.
The meeting was convened by NCP supremo and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar to discuss the party's strategy for the coming local bodies and municipal elections.
Mr Pawar has cancelled all his political meetings for today and tomorrow, sources said.
