Moderate earthquake jolts Junagadh, other parts of Gujarat

An earthquake of moderate intensity, measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale, rocked Junagadh and several other parts of Gujarat late tonight.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a bulletin that the quake, which had its epicentre at latitude 21.2 degrees North and longitude 70.7 degrees East, occurred at 2248 hours at a depth of 10 km.
Reports reaching here said the tremor was also felt in places such as Rajkot, Jamnagar and Surat.
People in many areas ran out of their buildings as a precautionary measure.
