Injured athlete Arunima shifted to Lucknow hospital

National-level athlete Arunima alias Sonu Sinha, who lost her left leg after she was thrown off a train in Bareilly on April 12, was shifted to Chatrapati Shahu Maharaj Medical University Hospital in Lucknow today.

Sonu, who was under treatment at Bareilly, was shifted to Lucknow last night for a major surgery to fix an artificial foot, popularly known as Jaipur foot.

A team of three doctors has been set up for her treatment and the state government has already announced it would bear all the expenses.

Sonu Sinha, a resident of Ambedkarnagar, was going to Noida by Padmavat Express to take part in the recruitment test of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) when some miscreants tried to snatch her chain near Chanheti railway station in Bareilly district.

When she resisted, they pushed her out of the running train, as a result of which she lost her leg.
