4 killed in slum fire in Ambala, Haryana

Four people, including a girl, were killed and three injured in a fire in the slum area near New Anaj Mandi here late last night.

The fire, which was suspected to have been caused due to bursting of crackers to celebrate the Indian victory in World Cup, reduced to ashes six huts within minutes in which the inmates of a family were burnt badly.

Of the seven injured, four died on the spot and the other three were rushed to the civil hospital from where they were referred to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh in a precarious condition.

The fire fire tenders could not reach the locality due to density of slums. The residents tried to extinguish the fire but did not succeed, official sources said.

The deceased were identified as Raghu (33), Meghraj (25), Roshan (18) and Suman (1), the sources added.
