India to take on Australia in the first of warm-up matches Sunday

Even as the city is slowly getting into the World Cup frenzy, closely following the Aero India show, hosts India, aiming to shrug off the 2007 disappointment, will take on four-time champions Australia in the first of the two warm-up matches to be played at the Chinnaswamy stadium tomorrow.

The massive stadium is match fit, with a fresh coat of paint and renovation work even as the two teams had a moderate practice session before the limb loosener.

The Indian team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni had a brief three-day camp at the National Cricket Academy here before going into the practise match.

Dhoni, in his pre-World Cup press conference, said that the players were almost fit, barring the niggles, and was confident the team would be fully fit before the opening tie against Bangladesh on Februry 19.

India will play against New Zealand in the second warm-up match on February 16 at Chennai before flying to Dhaka.

Australia, led by Ricky Ponting, will stay in the city for a few more days to play their second warm-up match against South Africa here on February 15 before leaving for Ahmedabad where they take on Zimbabwe in their first encounter.
