Special trains during Attukal Pongala festival in Kerala

To clear the extra rush of passengers and for the benefit of devotees of Attukal Pongala, the Southern Railway has decided to run special trains between Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala on Febraury 18 and 19.

The Kollam-Thiruvananthapuram special train will leave Kollam at 1215 hrs on February 18 and arrive Thiruvananthapuram Central at 1435 hrs, a railway press release said yesterday.

It will leave Kollam at 0400 hrs on February 19 and arrive Thiruvananthapuram Central at 1600 hrs, it said.

The Mangalore-Thiruvananthapuram Amrita Express, the Mangalore-Thiruvananthapuram Maveli Express and the Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Superfast Express will stop on February 19 at all stations except Pettah, Veli, Kaniyapuram, Perumkuzhi, Akathumuri, Edva and Iravipuram.

The Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Egmore Ananthapuri Express will stop on February 19 at all stations between Thiruvananthapuram and Nagercoil Jn. The Madurai-Kollam Fast Passenger will stop on February 19 at Dhanavachapuram, Amaravila, Balaramapuram and Nemom.

For the benefit of pilgrims attending the Attukal Pongala festival, additional coaches will be augmented between Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram, and Nagercoil and Thiruvananthapuram on February 18 and 19.
