Two die in explosion in chemical unit in Thane district

Two people were killed and another person was seriously injured in an explosion in a chemical plant in Kudus village in Wada taluka of Thane district of Maharashtra, police said today.

The blast occurred on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The deceased were identified as Dhananjay Patil (50), the manager, and Sanjay Palshikar (28), lab-in-charge.

Another worker Ravindra Gaikar (35), who received severe burn injuries, was rushed to a local hospital.

The cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained and investigations were on, police added.
