Maoist "zonal commander" arrested in Burdwan district of West Bengal

A Maoist "zonal commander", who was active in Jharkhand, was arrested from Kaksa Police Station area in Burdwan district today.

Police said the rebel, identified as Akankshya, was a landmine expert and that she was wanted in connection with ten cases related to murder and subversive activities.

She been holed up in a rented house in the area for the past one month, police said, adding that she was being interrogated and investigations were on.
