Govt. inducts more legal experts in Law Commission
The Government has appointed Mr Justice Shiv Kumar Sharma, former Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, and Mr Amarjit Singh, former Additional Solicitor General of India, as full-time members of the 19th Law Commission of India.
The Commission was constituted for a period of three years with effect from September 1, 2009 upto August 31, 2012. Mr Justice P V Reddi, a retired Judge of the Supreme Court of India, is the Chairman and Dr B A Agrawal is the Member-Secretary of the Commission.
Apart from the two full-time members, the Government has also appointed seven part-time members of the Commission.
They are Dr B V Acharya, Mr A Mariarputham and Mr R Venkataramani, senior advocates, Mr C Achuthan, former Presiding Officer in Securities Appellate Tribunal, Prof Ranbir Singh, Vice-Chancellor, National Law University, Delhi, Prof Afzal Wani, former Dean, University of Law and Legal Studies, Guru Gobind singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, and Dr Shashikala Gurupur Murphy, Principal, Symbiosis Law School, Pune.
