Dr C V Ananda Bose, Managing Director of the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED), has been appointed as the Chairman of the Coconut Development Board.

An official press release said Dr Bose, a 1977 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Kerala cadre, would hold the post concurrently with his present charge. He will take over from Ms Minnie Mathew, IAS, it said.

The CDB is a statutory body established under the Union Ministry of Agriculture for the integrated development of coconut cultivation and industry in the country. It focuses on productivity increase and product diversification.

According to the release, Dr Bose brings with him vast administrative experience. His initiatives include File to Field and Gramotsava, a model that was adopted by the Kerala Government for statewide implementation. As NAFED MD, he conceived and implemented the Easy Markets and Farm Gate to Homegate schemes as price control interventions a few months ago.

During his long years in Government, he has served as Kollam District Collector, Principal Secretary to the Kerala chief minister and Additional Chief Secretary.

His administrative initiatives have brought him awards such as the Jawaharlal Nehru Fellowship, the United Nations Global Best Practice Award and the Singapore Government Award for Urban Green Management Excellence. He is also an award-winning author.
