CBI arrests bank manager in Rewa on bribery charges

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today said it had arrested the branch manager of the Union Bank of India at Gurh Duwari in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 for sanctioning an educational loan.
According to a complaint filed with the CBI, the official, identified in media reports as R N Verma, had demanded the amount for sanctioning and disbursing the loan of Rs 3 lakhs in the name of the complainant's son.
Based on the complaint, the CBI registered a case and laid a trap for the official, who was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting the amount from the complainant. The accused was produced before the court of Special Judge, CBI, Cases in Jabalpur, a CBI press release added.
