3 more swine flu deaths in Maharashtra take India toll to 1305

Three more people have died of influenza A (H1N1) in Maharashtra, taking the death toll due to the swine flu pandemic in India so far to 1305, an official statement said here today.


One of the deaths was reported during the day, while reports about two earlier deaths were conveyed by the State health authorities to the centre today.


Of the total swine flu deaths in the country so far, Maharashtra now accounts for 343, while 268 lives have been lost in Gujarat, 186 in Rajasthan, 141 in Karnataka, 95 in Delhi, 52 in Andhra Pradesh, 39 in Punjab, 37 each in Kerala and Haryana, 24 in Madhya Pradesh, 18 in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Uttarakhand, 8 each in Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh, 7 each in Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh, 6 in Puducherry, 5 in Goa, 4 in Jammu & Kashmir, 3 in Orissa, 2 in Assam and 1 each in Mizoram and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.


The statement said 10 new cases of swine flu were reported from different parts of India today - eight in Gujarat and one each in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.


With these, the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases of the virus reported in the country so far has gone up to 29,313, the statement added.
