Snowall in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal due to western disturbance
Widespread snowfall has been reported from several parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh in the last 24 hours due to a western disturbance over north-west India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
There were isolated instances of heavy to very heavy falls in some parts of Jammu & Kashmir in this period, an IMD press release said.
The disturbance also caused light rainfall over some parts of the plains of north-west India.
The release said that the disturbance was likely to continue to affect north-west India during the next 48 hours. It said widespread rain/snowfall would occur in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in this period, with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Lightt moderate rain/thundershowers were also likely at many places in Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delh and Uttar Pradesh during the next 48 hours.
Isolated hailstorms may occur in the Jammu division of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh till tomorrow, it said.
