Delhi Metro services hampered Monday evening by rains
Sudden rain hampered train services at different points on Delhi Metro's Line 3 (Jahangirpuri to Central Secretariat) this evening by disrupting the overhead electricity supply.
A spokesman for Delhi Metro said this caused flashing in the pentograph of the train near Jhandewalan, non-opening of doors of another train at Kirti Nagar station and motoring problems in a train near Botanical Garden station.
As a result of these, train services were affected for about 30-40 minutes and services were fully normalised after 2000 hours, he said.
The Director (Operations), Delhi Metro Rail Corportion (DMRC), Mr, Raj Kumar, and the General Manager (Operations), Mr. Vikas Kumar personally monitored the train movement from the Operational Control Centre (OCC) at Metro Bhawan to ensure quick restoration of services, the spokesman said.
The Traction Power Controller at the OCC was able to constantly monitor and restore the electric supply from the Over Head Electrification (OHE) whenever required inspite of the tripping.
The affected trains were withdrawn from service for further investigation into the maintenance depots. Orders were issued for refund of tokens if any passenger requested for the same.
As a result of these efforts, the Metro Control was able to continue running the services on the line inspite of the delay caused, the spokesman added.
