Shivaji Rakshit takes over as Secretary, Railway Board

Mr Shivaji Rakshit, an officer of the Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS), has taken over as Secretary, Railway Board, New Delhi, an official press release said here today.


Prior to this appointment, he was the Financial Adviser & Chief Accounts Officer (FA&CAO), South Eastern Railway from 2008 onwards.


After completing his post-graduation, Mr Rakshit joined the IRAS in 1975. Apart from holding various positions on Indian Railways, Mr Rakshit has served in the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works and Metro Railway, Kolkata. He was posted as Executive Director/F(S), Executive Director/Accounts in the Railway Board between 2004 and 2007 and FA&CAO(Con), Northern Railway in 2007-08.


Mr Rakshit succeeds Mr K B L Mittal, who was removed from his post rather suddenly yesterday evening and is still awaiting his next posting. No reasons were given for the decision.
