Capital enveloped in thick fog Thursday morning

The national capital was covered this morning by a thick blanket of fog that slowed down road traffic, affected the running of trains and disrupted flight schedules.

The maximum temperature rose to 19 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours, up slightly from yesterday's 18.1 degrees but 2 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was 5.6 degrees Celsius, the same as yesterday, one degree below normal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The IMD forecast for today said there would be thick fog in the morning and mainly clear sky afterwards. It said the maximum and minimum temperatures today would be around 19 and 7 degrees Celsius.

The IMD forecast said the maximum and minimum temperatures would be 20 and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively, tomorrow and on Saturday.
