3 more swine flu deaths in India, toll goes up to 534
Three more people have died of influenza A (H1N1) in India, taking the toll due to the swine flu pandemic in the country so far to 534, an official statement said here today.
While no deaths were reported during the day, two deaths that occurred earlier in Rajasthan and one in Orissa were reported today, it said.
Of the total number of swine flu deaths in the country, Maharashtra now accounts for 214, while 119 lives have been lost in Karnataka, 49 in Andhra Pradesh, 45 in Gujarat, 25 in Kerala, 26 in Rajasthan, 18 in Delhi, 7 in Tamil Nadu, 6 in Puducherry, 5 each in Haryana, Goa and Uttarakhand, 3 in Uttar Pradesh, 2 each in Orissa and Punjab and 1 each in Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh and Mizoram.
As many as 200 fresh cases of the flu were reported from different parts of the country today, including 63 each in Delhi and Rajasthan, 22 in Haryana, 12 in Tamil Nadu, 10 in Maharashtra, 7 each in Uttar Pradesh and Kerala, 5 in Chandigarh, 4 in Karnataka, 2 each in Gujarat, Puducherry and Punjab and 1 in Andhra Pradesh.
With these, the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases of the virus reported in the country so far has gone up to 15,926, the statement added.
