Suzlon receives 21 MW order in US

Wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy Limited today said that its subsidiary in the United States had received a new order for the community-based Grant County Wind Farm in south-western Minnesota.

The order has been received by Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation in the US, the Pune-based company, which is the third largest wind turbine manufacturer in the world, told the Bombay Stock Exchange in a filing.

Developed by Juhl Wind of Woodstock, Minnesota, the project will consist of 10 Suzlon S88 2.1 MW wind turbines. At full capacity, it will produce 21 MW, enough energy to power 7000 homes in the area.

According to the statement, construction on the site had already begun and the wind farm is expected to be in commercial operation in the first quarter of 2010.
