1 H1N1 death in Maharashtra takes India toll to 485
One person died of influenza A (H1N1) in Maharashtra today, taking the toll due to the pandemic in India so far to 485, an official statement said here today.
With this, the total number of swine flu deaths in Maharashtra has risen to 207, while 117 lives have been lost in Karnataka, 49 in Andhra Pradesh, 40 in Gujarat, 21 in Kerala, 16 in Delhi, 7 in Tamil Nadu, 6 in Puducherry, 5 in Haryana, 4 in Goa, 3 each in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, 2 each in Punjab and Rajasthan and 1 each in Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh and Mizoram.
The statement said 71 fresh cases of the flu were reported from different parts of the country today, including 34 in Rajasthan, 17 in Karnataka, 12 in Delhi, 4 in Kerala and 2 each in Haryana and Orissa.
According to the statement, the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases of the virus reported in the country so far has gone up to 14,477.
