Devvarman, Bhambri call on Sports Minister

Fresh from their 4-1 victory over South Africa in Johannesburg, Indian Davis Cup team members Somdev Devvarman and Yuki Bhambri called on Union Sports Minister M S Gill here today.

Dr Gill congratulated them on their brilliant performance in South Africa and reminded them that they would have to put in years of intensive training to reach the top in world tennis.

"I am confident , they will show dedication and determination. Today in Devvarman, Bopanna and Bhambri , we have a new young team India that will carry Indian tennis forward to new glories in the years to come," he said.

The policy decision that only Indian passport holders can play for India had led to success, he added.
