Mr Menon was till recently the Chairman and Managing Director of Air India, but he was removed suddenly in the last week of April his year. The government gave no reasons for his removal, but media reports at that time suggested that it was unhappy with him over the slow pace of the process of merger and integration between Air India and Indian Airlines.
