One new influenza A (H1N1) case reported from India
One new case of influenza A (H1N1) was reported from India today, taking the total number of confirmed cases so far to 129.
The new case was of a 23-year-old Thai national, who arrived in Mumbai from Bangkok by a Thai Airways flight on June 28. From there, he had reached the Kandla port in Gujarat, where he was supposed to board a ship of which he is a crew member.
He was detected during the health screening at the port with symptoms of the flu and was isolated at the hospital there on July 1. Four other crew members in close contact with him have also been placed under quarantine and put on chemoprophylaxis.
As many as 90 of the 129 positive cases have already been discharged, while the rest are undergoing treatment in hospital, an official statement added.
