Airlines carry 39.29 lakh domestic passengers in May
Scheduled airlines in India carried a total of 39.29 lakh domestic passengers in May this year, as compared to 33.15 lakhs in April, an official statement said here today.
The total figure for January-May this year was 173.34 lakhs, as against 194.11 lakhs in the first five months of 2008, a fall of 10.70 per cent, the statement said.
Private sector airline Kingfisher carried 10.10 lakh passengers in May, followed by Air India (6.90 lakh), Jet Airways (6.16 lakh), Indigo (5.40 lakh), Spice Jet (4.96 lakh), JetLite (2.96 lakh), Go Air (1.88 lakh) and Paramount (0.82 lakh).
The market share of the different airlines remained roughly at the same levels as in April. The figures were: Air India 17.6%, Jet Airways 15.7%, Jet Lite7.5%, Kingfisher25.7%, Spice Jet 12.6%, Paramount 2.1%, Go Air 4.8% and IndiGo13.7%.
The seat factors of the airlines in May were: Air India 69.1%, Jet Airways 69.2%, JetLite 77.4%, Kingfisher Airlines 72.9%, Spice Jet 79.1%, Paramount Airways 89.4%, Go Air 84.2% and IndiGo 85.1%.
The overall on-time performance of all the domestic airlines for May was 79.5 per cent. The figures for individual airlines were: Air India (including Alliance Air) 72.4 per cent, Jet Airways 84.4 per cent, JetLite 70.5 per cent, Kingfisher 82.4 per cent, Spice Jet 75.9 per cent, Go Air 79.4 per cent, Paramount 89 per cent, Indigo 85.7 per cent, MDLR Airlines 49.3 per cent, the statement added.
