CW Games Committee signs MoU with ITDC


Three hotels of the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) in Delhi, including its flagship Hotel Ashok, have been designated as the Commonwealth Games Family Hotels, an announcement said here today.

The Organising Committee of the Commonwealth Games 2010 (OC CWG), which Delhi will host from October 3-14 next year, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ITDC in this regard today.

The MoU officially recognises the hotels---Ashok, Samrat and Janpath---as the Games Family Hotels.

The MoU was signed by Mr.Parvez Dewan, Chairman and Managing Director, ITDC and Dr. Lalit K. Bhanot, Secretary General, OC CWG in the presence of Mr Sultan Ahmed, the Minister of State for Tourism. Mr Suresh Kalmadi, Chairman of the Games Organising Committee, and Tourism Secretary Sujit Banerjee were also present on the occasion.

As the main Games Family Hotel, Ashok will host members of Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs), the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), International Sports Federations, Technical Delegates and members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The hotels will be the nerve centre of the Games and will have facilitation offices of CGF and OC CWG Delhi 2010. All events and meetings of different constituent groups will be held at these Games family hotels.

Hotel Samrat and Hotel Janpath will provide accommodation to the athletes’ families, an official press release added.
